1. Introduction

This RedCloverReader.com service (the “Service) is owned and operated by Red Clover Reader, Inc (referred to as “Red Clover Reader”, “we”, “us”, or “our” herein). This Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions under which ALL USERS OF THE RED CLOVER READER WEB SITE AGREE TO BE BOUND. Other pages of this site may contain further terms and conditions to which you also agree to be bound. If you do not agree to this Agreement in its entirety, you may not use our site or services.

Any person who establishes an account with Red Clover Reader will be referred to as the “Account Holder” in this Agreement. “Account” means the account registered to any user, pursuant to the registration procedures for the Service. The terms of this Agreement apply to all users of the Service via the Account, whether or not they are the Account Holder. The Account Holder is responsible for making each of the users of their Account (and anyone else they may allow access to their Account) aware of the terms of this Agreement and for ensuring compliance. The Account Holder for an Account is entirely liable for all activities conducted through that Account.

We reserve the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove (collectively, “Change” or the “Changes”) portions of this Agreement at any time, and Changes will be effective immediately upon posting of the revised Agreement at the domain or subdomain where the prior version was posted. It is your responsibility to review these terms. Although notification of Changes to this Agreement may from time to time be posted on the Service or sent via e-mail or postal mail, such notification does not waive or otherwise excuse the your affirmative obligation to review the Agreement for Changes, and to understand and agree to the most up-to-date terms of the Service. We suggest that you review the terms of this Agreement each time prior to using the Service.

If any future Changes to this Agreement are unacceptable to you, or cause you to no longer be in compliance with this Agreement, you must terminate your Account. Your continued use of the Service following Changes to this Agreement will signify that you accept those Changes.
We may change, modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, including, without limitation, the availability of any Service feature, database or content, hours of availability, or equipment needed to access the Service. We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict your access to parts or all of the Service for extended periods of time, without notice or liability. We reserve the right to interrupt the Service with or without prior notice for any reason or no reason, and you shall not be entitled to any refunds of fees for interruption of the Service or its otherwise failure to perform. We cannot guarantee that this Service or any data stored or transmitted in connection with it will be uninterrupted, error-free, and secure of viruses and other malware.

We are not an Internet provider and do not provide Internet access, and you are responsible for all fees associated with your Internet connection. You are likewise solely responsible for and must provide all computers, tablets and other equipment necessary to access the Service, including without limitation Internet access software, modems, and web cameras. We do not guarantee that the Service will operate on any specific equipment, browser, or any particular operating system, and we are not responsible for any damage, either temporary or permanent, to equipment or software in connection with using the Service.

Any attempt to sublicense, transfer, auction, sell or assign the license is void, and such attempts, regardless of whether made by Account Holder, will result in immediate termination of Account.

If you download software from the Service, the software, including any files, images incorporated in or generated by the software, and data accompanying the software (collectively, the “Software”), are licensed to you by Red Clover Reader. We hereby grant to you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to use the Software solely in connection with the Service via an authorized and fully-paid (or guest or authorized free subscription or trial) Account. You further acknowledge and agree that we may, in our sole and absolute discretion, track, record, observe or follow any and all of your interactions within the Service. Such interactions include but are not limited to titles of books you read, when you read them, how long you read them, devices you read them on, who you read them with, butons you interact with, comments you leave, quizzes you take and discussion questions you use.

5. Security

As part of the registration process, Account Holders will select a password and account ID (“Account ID”). We reserve the right to delete or change your Account ID for any reason or no reason. You shall provide Red Clover Reader with accurate, complete, and up-to-date Account information. Failure to do so shall constitute a breach of this Agreement, which may result in immediate termination of your Account or other measures, including legal action. You may not (i) select or use an Account ID of another person or entity with the intent to impersonate that person, including Account IDs that are deliberately misleading or deceptive as to the identity of the Member; (ii) use a name subject to the rights of any other person or entity without authorization; or (iii) use an Account ID that Red Clover Reader, in its sole and absolute discretion, deems inappropriate or offensive. Without limiting any of its additional rights in this Agreement or otherwise, Red Clover Reader reserves the right to enforce these security measures at any time, and Red Clover Reader’s allowance of an Account ID shall not be considered a waiver of our ability to terminate, suspend, or otherwise reevaluate your Account at a later time.

You shall notify Red Clover Reader by e-mail at contact@redcloverreader.com of any known or suspected unauthorized use(s) of your Account, or any known or suspected breach of security, including loss, theft, or unauthorized disclosure of your password. You shall be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.

Any fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise illegal activity may be grounds for termination of your Account, at Red Clover Reader’s sole and absolute discretion, and you may be reported to appropriate law-enforcement agencies.

6. Price and Payment

Red Clover Reader reserves the right at any time to charge additional fees for access to the Service. Red Clover Reader reserves the right to change the amount of, or basis for determining, any fees or charges for the Service, and to institute new fees or charges effective upon prior notice to Account Holders via the email address of record on the Account Holder’s account or posting upon the domain or subdomain of the Service or any other method that is designed to provide reasonable notice to Account Holders. Red Clover Reader reserves the right to provide the Service at no charge for promotional reasons or otherwise (such as a free subscription or trial). PROVISION OF PROMOTIONAL TRIALS OR OTHER PREFERRED OR DISCOUNTED ACCESS TO SOME MEMBERS (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FULL OR LIMITED SUBSCRIPTIONS OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE) SHALL NOT OBLIGATE RED CLOVER READER TO PROVIDE SUCH PROMOTIONS, DISCOUNTS, OR PREFERRED ACCESS TO OTHER MEMBERS.

Each Account Holder agrees to pay all charges to the Account, including applicable taxes, in accordance with billing terms in effect at the time the fee or charge becomes payable. Account Holders must provide Red Clover Reader with valid information as requested during the registration process, which may include (but is not limited to) credit card information, promotional codes, or other means of payment.

If you have reason to believe that your Account is no longer secure (for example, in the event of a loss, theft, or unauthorized disclosure or use of your Account ID, Password, or any credit, debit, PayPal, or charge card information stored on the Service), you must promptly change your Password and notify Red Clover Reader of the problem (by giving notice as described in the Notice section below) to avoid possible liability for any unauthorized charges to your Account.

If Account Holder is paying by credit card (including debit and other charge cards):
Red Clover Reader shall charge the Account Holder’s credit card on the date Account Holder subscribes to the Service or if you have signed up for a free trial period, Red Clover Reader shall charge the Account Holder’s credit card on the day that the free trial expires. Thereafter, Red Clover Reader will automatically renew and charge the Account Holder as follows:

  1. Upon every one (1)-month anniversary of the first billing date for monthly subscriptions
  2. Upon every six (6)-month anniversary of the first billing date for semiannual subscriptions if available
  3. Upon every one (1)-year anniversary of the first billing date for annual subscriptions if available

The renewal charge shall be equal to or less than the original subscription price, unless otherwise notified in advance by Red Clover Reader via the email address of record on the Account Holder’s account or posting upon the domain or subdomain of the Service or any other method that is designed to provide reasonable notice to Account Holders. You may notify Red Clover Reader that you wish to cancel your subscription at any time, but such notice shall be provided in writing. Red Clover Reader agrees that it will terminate your Account upon receipt of notification from the Account Holder. No refunds for used or unused subscriptions (including those with time remaining on them) will be offered in the event of a cancellation. We will immediately terminate a subscription upon notification by the Account Holder and Account Holder will not be entitled to any remaining paid period of use remaining on the account.

Your right to use the Service is subject to any limits established by Red Clover Reader or by your credit card issuer. If payment cannot be charged to your credit card or your charge is returned to Red Clover Reader for any reason, including chargeback, Red Clover Reader reserves the right to either suspend or terminate your access and Account.

7. Parental Consent

Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), parental consent is required for the online collection, use and/or disclosure of personal information obtained from a child under the age of thirteen (13). When purchasing the Service, the Account Holder may be asked to provide a valid credit card. If paying by credit card, children will need to have a parent or legal guardian register as the Account Holder. By providing his or her credit card number, the Account Holder: (a) represents and warrants that he or she will be the Account Holder; (b) represents and warrants that he or she is the parent or legal guardian of any child under the age of thirteen (13) for whom he or she allows to use the Account; and (c) agrees to our collection, use and disclosure of personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy [www.redcloverreader.com/privacy] with respect to any child under the age of thirteen (13) for whom the Account Holder allows to use the Account.

8. Notice

The Account Holder will submit, maintain, and keep up to date a correct e-mail address and other Account information. Without waiving or excusing Account Holder’s obligation to review the terms of this Agreement for changes, we may give notice to the Account Holder by means of a general notice on the Service, electronic mail to your e-mail address on record in our Account information, by written communication sent by first-class mail to your address on record in our Account information or by any other method that is designed to provide reasonable notice to Account Holders.

All notices from you to Red Clover Reader should be in writing to contact@redcloverreader.com.

You acknowledge and agree that Red Clover Reader is not liable for any third party content but may, but is not obligated to, review, monitor, edit, refuse, or modify such third party content at any time and for any reason.

Red Clover Reader does not represent or endorse the accuracy or reliability of any book, advice, opinion, statement, or other information displayed, uploaded, or distributed through the Service by any user, information provider, or other third-party individual or entity. You acknowledge that any reliance upon any such opinion, advice, statement, memorandum, or information shall be at your sole risk.

This Agreement is effective until terminated by either party. You may terminate this Agreement and your right to use the Service at any time by modifying your account settings. Upon cancellation you may no longer have access to the Service. Red Clover Reader may terminate your Account or access rights to this Service immediately without notice for any reason or no reason in our sole and absolute discretion. Upon termination, you must destroy all materials obtained from this Service and all copies thereof, whether made under the terms of this Agreement or otherwise.

How It works?

F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

[1] Red clover Reader: Author Basics

[+] Read More [-] Hide
Why & What?
Red Clover Reader is addressing parents' concerns surrounding poor quality screentime and lack of diversity in kids' books. The platform features high quality, diverse and value-focused kids' content from independent Authors for use at home and in school. Some of the social values the platform helps foster include cultural diversity, empathy, perspective taking and emotional resilience.

Is this for me?
Red Clover Reader is a dedicated community of talented and passionate indie kids' Authors. Our members are parents themselves (in most cases) and educators who have the kids' best interests at heart. Some of our current members include Raven Howell, Pam C. Rice, Maria Ashworth, Myron Campbell, Michelle Person, Erik Island and Natalie Kennedy.

What's in it for me?
After passing the 'gentle review' process, vetted members have access to a slate of promotional opportunities:

  • Free Author interviews, like these recent ones;
  • Featuring your digital books on the Red Clover Online Reader at no cost. Plus you will be compensated with royalties on a per read basis when Red Clover Reader starts charging parents and/or schools to access your content;
  • Listing your print books in the Red Clover Boutique at no cost. No upfront or hidden expenses. Only when customers order your print books, a 12% commission is collected on the transaction value (net of shipping and taxes), to help maintain the infrastructure and support marketing efforts;
  • Being part of a neat self-supporting community of like-minded Authors, parents and educators;
  • No exclusivity required: You can keep marketing your work through any other platforms you like; e.g., your own Author website, agent platforms, blogs, Amazon, Facebook, etc.
  • No credit card information required;
  • Getting a chance to contribute your expertise to our neat community, to help parents with raising happy and well-rounded kids.

[2] Red Clover Reader: What’s in it for Authors?

[+] Read More [-] Hide
Red Clover Reader is a developing community of Authors working together to change the way Independent Authors market their work. After all, we become Authors to share our vision of the world, our message, and our stories; not to become marketing experts. Unfortunately, the current reality of being successful as Independent Authors (especially self-published Authors) works out to be 90% marketing (things like Author platforms, email lists, advertising, and influencer outreach, trade shows, networking on social media) and only 10% writing. The Red Clover community is working toward changing this order. Our goal is to give Authors their time back to focus more on their craft and less on self-promotion. We want to give you the type of exposure previously only available to traditionally published Authors (and even more), for FREE ! Click below to read more...

What you get from the Red Clover community

(a) Free exposure: we offer you several ways to connect with audiences and get feedback for free. For instance, you can sign up for free for Author hangouts, you can have your books and merchandise listed for free in the Red Clover Boutique, etc.

(b) Free ongoing book promotion: Red Clover Reader does NOT charge you anything to have your books and merchandise listed in our Boutique. We do NOT charge you either to participate in any “customer-facing” activities such as receiving and giving direct feedback from/to Parents, Author hangouts, and product delivery.

(c) No upfront or hidden costs working through Red Clover Reader: We never ask you to provide a credit card information. To maintain the platform, we only keep a 15% commission on realized transactions (e.g., print books and/or merchandise sold).

(d) Customer facing interactions: Opportunity to have virtual customer facing interactions, which allows you to build an audience from the comfort of your home. Also, this is a unique chance for you to offer a customized experience to Parents who purchase your work, by delivering your products to them directly (e.g., signed copies, personalized dedications, inclusion of stickers or book marks for greater impact).

(e) Direct feedback: you get an opportunity to receive direct feedback from your readership and be “invited into their homes” via a two-way communication.

(f) Zero risk:
  • You always retain your full copyrights: we never use your copyrighted materials (e.g., pictures, text, etc.) without your explicit consent. Also, we do NOT try to sell your work behind your back. The documents you share with us are solely used for listing and promotions through the Red Clover Reader platform (e.g., website, social media, emails).
  • Your copyrighted materials are protected: There are several protections that Red Clover Reader puts in place to prevent piracy. None of your work (e.g., books and illustrations) is available for free download. It can only be accessed on the site. In addition, you can apply watermarks to your material yourself with minimal practice using a graphic software (e.g., free Inkscape software) or hire a freelancer through an inexpensive site such as Fiverr or Upwork to do that for you.
  • No specific time commitments: you can work with us to promote your work for free for as long as you want. If at any time you choose to end this relationship, you only need to communicate this to us via email.

(g) Non-exclusive partnership: working with Red Clover Reader does NOT prevent you from using other marketing or promotion channels such as your own author platform (e.g., a personal website), social media or major marketplaces (e.g., Amazon)

(h) Transparency and friendliness: we try to make Red Clover Reader’s procedures as transparent and accessible as possible. Our doors are always open to listen to you and work around your circumstances. Better yet, you can make suggestions to improve the way we run the platform to provide more benefits to the entire community.

What you give the Red Clover community

(a) Make your eBooks free available to our audience of dedicated Parents (and their children) to get to know your work and build a relationship with you as an Author. Even established Authors price their eBooks quite low or list them for free on Amazon and other marketplaces to increase reach or exposure.
Check out these examples of featured books on our e-Reader. This is one of the many free book promotion options available to you through Red Clover Reader. We are working on launching it in the coming weeks.

(b) Share a few illustrations with our audience. The illustrations are used to create dynamic slideshows for your book listings. We recommend that you add a watermark to the images before sharing them with us. You can apply watermarks to your material yourself with minimal practice using a graphic software (e.g., free Inkscape software) or hire a freelancer through an inexpensive site such as Fiverr or Upwork to do that for you.

(c) As much as possible, share any enhanced materials (e.g., audios, videos, animations, podcasts) with our audience. The more engaging the content, the more likely Parents and their children are to connect with your work.

(d) Engage virtually with our audience at your most convenient times, by providing feedback to Parents who are interested in your work and your personal story.

(e) Deliver physical books and merchandise in a prompt manner when an order is placed for your items through the Red Clover Reader platform.
